Net-Link Export, *.ods files, and Excel auto-save

Categorized as:

Hello friends!

Got a strange issue with exporting from Net-Link. Opening the file after export does not allow me to turn on Excel's autosave. Says We can't save your file automatically. To avoid losing your changes, please save the file using File >Save.

I do this, saving as *.xlsx and when attempting to turn on the autosave, get a message saying the file contains calculation settings that aren't supported in this file format. Some formulas might give different  Read more...results after saving. Do you want to continue?

Of course I want to so I click the Yes button and attempt to turn autosave on again. I'm greeted with another message: This workbook uses custom ODF calculation settings. Please remove them. Sure, if i can only find them.

Has anyone had this and found a fix??

Thanks in advance!

BC:
Thanks for your quick response, Jorge. Unfortunately, I don't have that "Use the workbook's ODF calculation settings" option showing. Using Office 365 and I have a section titled "Calculation options" that has three choices for workbook calculation: Automatic, Partial, and Manual. I tried all three of these with no change.

To remove ODF Calculation Settings
Open the Excel file that's causing the problem.

Go to the File tab on the ribbon.

In the sidebar, select Options. This will open a new window.

In the Excel Options window, click Formulas.

Look for the Calculation Settings section. You'll likely see an option that says "Use the workbook's ODF calculation settings." This is the option causing the problem.

Make sure the "Use  Read more...the workbook's ODF calculation settings" box is unchecked. Instead, select Automatic at the top of that section.

Click OK to save the changes and close the window.

What are ODF settings?
ODF (OpenDocument Format) settings are a way for Office programs to handle calculations in spreadsheets. When you export data from a system such as an ERP, these settings are sometimes included to ensure compatibility with different programs. However, in your case, Excel is interpreting this setting as a problem, preventing features like AutoSave from working properly.

After following the steps above, you should be able to enable AutoSave without seeing the error message. If the problem persists, there may be a deeper issue with the file, but these steps will most likely resolve it. Good luck! Show less...
