Keeping track of inventory is one of the core jobs of any ERP, but that data is only as good as its accuracy. When inventory counts are off, the impact adds up fast: production delays, higher costs, bad planning decisions, and more. The catch? Keeping inventory data accurate can be expensive and time-consuming. Full manual counts can slow everything down, stop production lines, require overtime - and even then, they’re not always reliable.

XA does offer some built-in tools to help, but as inventory grows in size and complexity, the process of deciding what to count (and then actually running those counts) can become a heavy lift for users and managers.

That’s where TriMin’s SmartCount tool comes in. It uses the native XA inventory count groups (A, B, C) to prioritize what needs to be counted more often, and makes it easy to run targeted count jobs. After items are counted, a posting function records the last count date and automatically keeps them out of the rotation until they’re due again. The result is a more agile, efficient approach with less disruption, less manual effort, and more accurate data.

You can also customize how often each category is counted, so the process can evolve as your operation changes.

And identifying what to count is just the start. TriMin has also added tools for tracking variance, managing recounts, and improving overall inventory visibility within XA. We’ll be sharing more on those soon—but in the meantime, feel free to reach out to our Sales Manager, Sarah Mackay, sarah.mackay@triminsystems.com, to schedule a demo and see it in action.
