TECH Day Sessions

Monday TECH Day sessions.  During the registration process, if you choose to attend on Monday, you’ll be given options for morning and afternoon sessions as listed below.  Seating for our Monday sessions is limited, so we suggest early enrollment.

Monday Morning Sessions:

  • Extending & customizing your ERP via Enterprise Integrator  (Morning Session, please also select the afternoon session below) -  Presented by Nora Holland.
    • This is the first half of our 5-hour hands-on training session targeting those somewhat new to Enterprise Integrator (EI) who would like to go beyond tailoring the User Interface (i.e. screen layouts) and understand the technical capabilities of EI and how to use it to augment and customize your Infor ERP installation to your organizational needs. This workshop is targeted to the technical oriented who want to explore the application extension capabilities of the EI framework by extending the UI over your user-owned database and/or programs to augment the XA user experience.  We will work through exercises on logical attributes, code files, action buttons, edits and audits, field level security, discrete domains, relationships, transactions, host processes and publish and subscribe for both Infor and user-owned objects.  IDF in XA will be used for class demonstrations and documentation but those using IDF in another ERP may attend and follow along as well since each student will connect to their own system and business environment to perform the class exercises.  This allows students to use their own objects, tables and source files where they are most comfortable and for easy reference post-workshop!

  • Intro to the Infor Development Framework (IDF),  NetLink for Beginners - Presented by Phil Joseph
    •  Are you clueless how to make Net-Link do what everyone says it can do -- customize this and personalize that? You can take a 20-hour instructor led course with hands-on workshops from Infor U. Too much? Then how about the first 3 hours of it? You will learn a lot and get a taste of what the whole course is about.
  • Infor OS – A box of Legos.  Part 1 -  Presented by Jessica Melger, Infor
    • Many Infor customers are embracing the Infor OS technology,  but not sure where to start,  or what’s all included.  Our Infor OS session is designed to be an in-depth introduction to the core elements of the Infor OS Suite.  Our morning session will start with a core introduction to the Infor OS Suite, then move on to ION,  Workflow and Infor Document Management (IDM)
  • Db2 for IBM i SQL – Scripts, Services and Performance (Session 1,  this same session will also be provided in the afternoon).

    • This session will focus on all things Db2 for i and SQL for the database engineer.  Db2 for i SQL Services allow you to manage not only your database environment, but they allow you manage many aspects of your IBM i system environment using SQL statements.  Includes demos and examples of running many SQL services.  Hands on examples of using tools like Run SQL Scripts, which is part of IBM i Access Client Solutions (ACS), Visual Explain and the SQL Performance Center to monitor your SQL Usage on the system.  We will introduce you to the SQL Plan Cache and the SQL Performance Monitor and how you can use these resources.  At the end of the session you should have working examples that you can take home and use on your IBM i environment to use SQL and the various tools presented.

  • Navigating IBM i Systems Administration and Management (Session 1,  this same session will also be provided in the afternoon)

    • This session will focus on IBM i system administrators responsible for managing IBM i resources. Working with users & jobs, defining system security, multi-factor authentication, monitoring system performance, PTFs and groups, license keys, networking, etc.  Session will focus on using the Navigator for i web gui and links to associated tools such as IBM Web Administration for i and IBM Digital Certificate Manager.  Whether you are brand new to IBM i system administration via Navigator or just want to go through the latest enhancements, this hands-on demo focused session will give you practical tasks you can apply to your IBM i environment.

  • TECH Day Open Lab -  All day during  TECH Day  - Led by Mike Tobey
    • New in 2025!  We’ll have an Open Lab available to all TECH Day attendees.  We’ll have more than 20 pre-defined labs,  and several technical resources available to you.  Do you want to build a Compound Card,  or tap into an external database, or build a new object in NetLink?   Bring your laptop!  Our team will be ready to help you!  Check back often,  we’ll have a list of labs available soon.

  • Intro to the Infor Development Framework (IDF), Integrator For Beginners – Presented by Infor
    • Do you know how to create new functions in Net-Link? It requires a tool called Integrator, and it lets you create new objects indistinguishable from the ones you already have. That is, they look and act and interact just like the ones from Infor. Infor U has a 20-hour course to get you started, and we’ve brought the first four hours to inPOWER. You will learn what Integrator can do, complete with instructors and hands-on workshops.
  • Infor OS – A box of Legos.  Part 2 -  Presented by Jessica Melger, Infor
